With few sites of historical importance, the charm of the region lies in well-kept towns and the extensive seacoasts where master shipbuilders construct massive wooden schooners, using only simple tools and techniques passed on through the ages. Stay in comfortable hotel in center of town. Free time to see the sights.
Day 2 Makassar - Bira
Drive to Bira in the south. Stay in stilted cottages on the beach.
Day 3 Bira, snorkel excursion
Boattrip to deserted island. Snorkeling and picknick.
Day 4 Bira - Kajang - Sengkang
Via interesting route northwards to Sengkang.
Day 5 Rantepao
Canoe trip on Lake Tempe. See traditional fishing villages. In the afternoon on to Rantepao (Tanah Toraja).
Day 6 Rantepao, sightseeing
Tour past the most beautiful villages and sights.
Day 7 & 8 Toraja land: 2-day trekking
Beautiful trek through the mountains and past traditional villages. Overnight in houses with the local people.
Day 9 Toraja, last day of trekking
Transfer to a comfortable hotel.
Day 10 Rantepao, free program
Free day to relax or to go rafting on the river.
Day 11 Toraja - Makassar
Long but beautiful drive to Makassar.
Day 12 Makassar - airport
End of services.
