Highlights of Sumba, 5 days

Sumba is an island untouched by modern tourism. This fascinating island has so much to offer: beautiful ikat weaving; a megalithic culture with unique funeral rituals. All this is encompassed in an island with a wild nature and ringed by beautiful and secluded white sandy beaches.

Day 1, Marosi
Transfer airport - hotel. On the way we will make a beautiful stroll around the village of Kampung Tarung. Here it seems that time stood still. We end our walk at a colorful local market. Visit to a traditional village.

Day 2, Marosi
Visit by boat to small villages with traditional houses and ancient graves. Beach stop for a magnificent view. In the early afternoon we return to the hotel, so there will be plenty of time left for a refreshing dip in the deep-blue sea.

Day 3, Waingapu
Trip to the east part of Sumba. The scenery changes from lush-green to dry and rocky. We stop at several villages to see impressive rows of artistically carved tombstones.

Day 4, Waingapu
Visit to two villages famous for its ikat-weaving process. These villages also boast beautiful traditional houses and impressive tombs.

Day 5, Bali
Transfer to Waingapu airport to fly back to Bali.

You will stay in comfortable AC rooms, based on twin-share. In Marosi in a luxurious resort with swimming pool and beautiful views of the sea. You will travel by AC car with driver and English speaking guide.
