Experience the overwhelming beauty and heart-warming friendliness of green Sumatra. The orang-utans in the lush jungle of Gunung Leuser, the extrovert Batak on the shores of their cool Lake Toba and the Minangkabau people with their gracious, particular culture make this huge island worth while. Besides these highlights we will also visit places where tourists are rarely seen. During beautiful treks you can see nature from close up.

Day 1 airport-Bukit Lawang
Stay in the forest near the rehabilitationcenter of orang-utangs. See the monkeys being fed.

Day 2-3 Tangkahan
By jeep and ferry to our accomodation in the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park. Jungletreks, swimming in the river.

Day 4-6 Lake Toba
Drive to Lake Toba. Stay in hotel near the lake. Biking and trekking. Get to know the Batak.

Day 7-8 Panyabungan
Visit a unique village of the Batak Mandailing, a very traditional tribe.

Day 9-11 Bukittinggi
Trek through the canyon. Free time to visit the big pasar. Make a horsecart trip to traditional village

Day 12-13 Lake Maninjau
Descend by foot to craterlake. Time for swimming, relaxing or biking.

Day 14 Padang
Transfer to the airport.
