East Flores, Maumere, 5 or 7 days
Maumere Bay is surrounded by volcanoes and other mountains. The islands on the outer edge of the bay have beautiful coral reefs with steep walls covered with hard corals and large sea fans. The bay is calm at most times and dolphins, sperm whales and whale sharks like to come here.We offer 5 and 7 days packages with 3 and 5 days diving. Beside this package we also provide Padi Open Water courses. You can also combine this package with a Flores overland tour.
Day 1
Transfer airport - hotel. You can either stay at a comfortable resort with sea view or at a more simple hotel, close to the beach.
Day 2 - 4 or 2 - 6
Diving 3 or 5 days, 2 dives per day.
Day 5 or 7
Transfer hotel - airport.
About the dive sites
At South Pangah Balang you may have some current to deal with as you descend over the mass of soft corals in impressive sizes and spectacular colors.
Wai Terang Japanese World War II freighter lying on its side from a depth of 25 m up to about 12 m. The old ship plays host to a fair number of hard and soft corals harboring small fish life.
Babi Island reef wall is in pristine condition. Snappers, angelfish, parrotfish and damselfish all occupy the wall. There is a good covering of soft corals and sponges all along the wall.
Dambilah This dive is perfect for relaxing, taking some time to search for small animals but at the same time enjoying the nice underwater landscape like the coral gardens at the top and the soft corals on the slope.
Majella's Ledge Depending on the currents you either start from the crack or go to the left on the wall or you dive towards the crack from the south on a slope that ends as a wall. There is a large saddle going out from 25 meters down to 40 meters. Down there is a good place for big sting rays and sharks.
Muck diving has become more and more popular for finding rare and new critters. The Bay is a great place to watch whales and dolphins as well.
