Unknown Gunung Tambora, 7 days
Tambora vulcano on the island of Sumbawa is known to only very few people, whereas its eruption in 1815 is known as one of the strongest in history. More than a 1000 meters of its summit was blown away and around 150 km³ of debris and ashes were thrown into the atmosphere. The effects were disastrous: scores of thousands were killed.
Nowadays Gunung Tambora is almost 2815 meters high and surrounded by a thick belt of tropical rainforest. There are only a few who dare to attempt the 3 day long trip to the crater that is 7 kilometers wide. From there you can even see the summits of faraway mountains on Java and Flores!
